Deklen is learning to play with the dogs lately. He keeps pushing the dog toy in their face trying to play, but oskar won't take it unless it is on the ground. Then he grabs it and runs and drops it and then deklen will go over and pick it up again to play.

Ok. Please don't giggle too much. I apparently did enough while the video was running. (Nice mom eh?) He is learning and quickly too. I could tell you i did see this coming though.

Too cute. He has been making these noises again. Last time he did this he got a tooth. so another is probably on the way. He is so curious.

Need i say more??? Ahhh, yes cute animals they are.

This Morning deklen pulled himself up to the coffee table to stand all by himself for about 5 seconds. And yes it was to reach the remote for the t.v.

Now that deklen is crawling, he is getting under the coffee table and trying to get the remotes. For now they are still safe.

Today already a new game. FINALLY Oskar has someone to Bug / play with. So he is giving deklen the toy now in his lap or just keeping it out of his reach, and when he gets too close he takes it away. I can see these two will get along just fine by entertaining eachother.

Deklen Crawled today!!! Trevor and i were talking at the island in our kitchen and he was looking toward the tv and said ummm, deklen is crawling, and i turned to yes see him moving his legs. And i managed to get it on video - this is only the second time he crawled, and he seems to have it all figured out already. Oh my boy is growing up so fast. And yes what he wanted was the dogs squeeky toy. Ugh.

Today dad and i got the little dirt bike running just for fun. I would like to not just learn how to ride one but to ride one well. So this is the learner. Dad had fun taking it for a bit of a ride. By the smile on his face looks like he had fun.

Well Our poor boy Oskar. Trevor took him to the emergency Vet downtown Calgary on monday morning at one am. He was sick from eating some piece of cloth (we thought a dishtowel) And usually he pukes it up no problem within one week. Well, not this time. He was trying to throw up on sunday evening, and then late sunday night. Then he started to cry and whimper when heaving around 12:00 that night. And off trevor took him. So four sets of x-rays showed something stuck in the bottom of his stomach unable to pass into his intestines. And he had surgery on Monday around 6:00 pm. They basically took out his stomach and all intestines and looked at them all, cut his stomach open and took out the material. And it was baby socks. Ok. Excuse me but my son is no longer going to wear socks. you know how washing machines eat regular socks - well i have that same problem with baby socks also and a dog that wants to eat them. So out they go! Nothing but sleepers and pants with feet. Oskar Has insurance to help with the cost of our vet bill. A grand total of $3942.64 YES it's that much. So we get 80% coverage which helps A LOT. Now you can see why no more babysocks in the house? Can't be doing that anymore. Poor Oskar feels pretty sore and is walking in slow motion everywhere as his incision is five inches long. He also has one stitch in his eyelid as the surgeon also removed a small growth on it (NO CHARGE) At least something was free! His spirits did pick up when he got home as he found his ball and picked it up for us to throw. BUT no running, jumping or horsing around for 2 weeks. - Thats going to be hard. I'll have to hide the ball. And see the cone? He's a pro at that as he has had a lot of experience wearing it. He's a toughie My boy Oskar!

Well i have been really good feeding deklen - i have not spoiled him with any sweet food like fruit. All he has had was bland cereal and peas and squash and such. So today i finally decided to give him a spoon or two of pears. I thought it would be good. Well his reaction was a bit different and it didn't get much better. every bite was like this. Sooo cute.

Our first Halloween. Deklen enjoyed himself and was all bundled up as Eeyore, as it wasn't very warm in Edmonton, but thankfully no snow or freezing rain.

Deklen has his first tooth. At 7 months and 10 days old. Of course no picture as he smiles right now with his tongue in the way but i can feel the one on the bottom poking through. last night there was no teeth (i check daily) and today at noon there it was! He's getting so big. As we speak Trevor is finishing drywalling the basement bathroom. i will mud and tape for the next few days and then install the shower. Yaay the basement is getting completed!!!

Someone in our family wants to be the new baby. Zoe did this a few times when we first brought deklen home. When we would drop the soother she would be found with it in her mouth. So i was throwing this one out and thought i would get a picture. She always had it in her mouth the right way too. Trevor and i caught the flames and oilers game, had fun but we lost sadly. Just a new thing deklen has been doing for the last few days. It's cute as he sprays himself in the eyes as he does this.

Lately deklen has been making weird faces and i can't catch them on camera for the life of me. so i finally caught it for a second. Have a laugh at my funny and handsome boy.

Explanation needed. The triangular wedge has a full mirror on his side. He sees himself and is compelled to mash his face to it. Why? I don't know.

Deklen rolled over today for the first time. AND it was while Papa was babysitting, so papa got to see it first. I thought he was joking, but no. last week when i'd put deklen on his stomach he would just have his fists under his face and cry - so he wasn't even close, but now he puts his one arm way out infront and one up and over he goes. This is the first time i seen him roll and caught it on video. I guess deklen likes to show off for papa, i'll have to limit the babysitting as next time he may be walking when i get back.

Super cute in his new halloween pj's. in the video he was ready as we had practiced getting surprised and he knew what was coming. So he was giggling before the "BOO" would come.

First shots today. yes they were late, but it went well. he got two needles in the left leg and the nurse would ring a small bell and as he would start to cry he would stop as if to say "oh a bell" then the third shot go to cry again and"oh a bell" very easily distracted. And then smiles for the nurse. and all is back to normal. all seems OK now and i am hoping he won't get a fever. see his cute band aids on his thighs? What a tough guy - that's our boy!!

Tonight trevor and i fed deklen his first babyfood. Barley baby cereal. I expected him to taste it and spit some of it out and play mostly. But what happened was he tasted it and looked up at me and was down to business. I can see he was sooooo ready for food. He will be a good eater as he is already grabbing the spoon and pushing it into his mouth. Quick learner my little pudge.

A small accomplishment for me today. I have been taking a running class every Monday with Cindy on how to learn to run. Goal is to end up running ten minutes straight have a one minute walk and run ten more minutes. Today i ran for 8 minutes, walked 2, ran 8 minutes, walked 2, and then ran 12 minutes and walked 4 to cool down. I ran a total of 2 miles and walked about .3 of a mile. I was told that running on a treadmill is easier for most people and i agree. Maybe less distraction? More cushioning and no slope or hills? I do prefer running on my treadmill as also nobody is watching my perfected form(Yeah right). Hopefully i can keep this up as it doesn't seem as hard as i once thought.

Lately deklen has been sucking is bottom lip in and just this last week he has now been sticking it out. Maybe teeth are on their way? Since we got deklen his new highchair he refuses to be laid down on his back on the floor. He really likes the chair as he is able to watch the whole main floor from his perch. It works out well because he can sit in it and i can cook and clean the kitchen and he just watches me and plays happily.
He is so photogenic unlike his mother. No muffin top to be found here...... it is hidden.

Ok, i had to laugh once i seen this. He is so darn cute. What a ham. The pants are 6 month and tight as you can see. I'll have to buy bigger ones and hem them........
Yes, just yesterday for the first time he managed to stick his toes inhis mouth while i changed his diaper. Dont know how as i thought the rolls would be in the way, but he did it and now it is a regular thing already.I looooove bare bum pictures. Well and all the rolls. And the newest addition to the benner family. Scott and Kahnhs baby boy they named Bastian. He is a cutie and a pretty good baby. Born 6lb 13 oz. Aug 21. Aleady gaining a lot of weight daily.And here both boys sleeping soundly after i took kahn out to the health center to weigh Bastian and Deklen. After that kahn and i went out for vietnamese food and enjoyed that thouroughly. And the boys were great.

Cindy invited me to go to global fest on sunday evening. I really enjoyed myself, it was really nice to get out of the house. As you can see the "boys" had a great time also. The were so good. It was the first time i took deklen out in the baby bjorn type carrier. I strapped him on and away we went. We parked at marlborough mall and they had special busses for which you had to buy passes for. Got on those and they transported us to the park. Deklen was soooo good, he was wide awake and giving smiles mostly to cindy across the bus. He really liked looking out and seeing all the peope and goings on. I thought it might be a bit overwhelming for him since he has never experienced that but, he loved every minute of it. He ate at 9:00 and true to his bedtime, fell asleep shortly after. AND slept through the fireworks. He woke up to be juggled back in the sling at 10:30 and was wide awake again for the long walk and bus ride. Happy as a clam. Fell asleep in the carseat and barely woke when we got home. So cute! a bit of the sunset in the background.

Deklen has begun to really laugh now. Unfortunately he has also begun to snort when he laughs like his mom and auntie. (YES karlynn i am referring to you.) So just at the end of the video he gives a short snort. He usually does it a few times once he gets going, but i was lucky to catch this.

How bad is it when you go to the doctor and he looks in your throat and makes the comment "oh, dear God" not once but twice. And he does not usually exaggerate. So yes i went to the doctor today around 2:00 for an extremely sore throat that has been getting worse over the last four days. I knew it was time to go to the doc when my throat was so swollen and hurt so bad i was gagging on my breakfast. Surprise today tho waiting for 2:00 to roll around i started getting super chilled in my house. I swear it was like zero, hands turned to ice and my muscles hurt to even walk. OMG. So it was plus 19 outside and i bundled up in sweatpants, long sleeve shirt and a sweater and i was off to the doctor. Thank god trevor was off early and he took deklen, as i don't think i would have been able to carry him. SO diagnosis - Strep A, yep - STAY AWAY FROM ME. Deklen can also get it and i am now paranoid. Lots of hand sanitizer and washing Everything. so i am taking the super strength motrin and pennicilin to get me back on my feet. It is going to be a rough night. I was supposed to meet cindy for our learn to run class tonight, but how could i run when i can barely walk? Sorry Cindy. I have a lot of catching up to do this week so this pennicilin better be working by tomorrow morning.

Well this was the action for the littlest members last thursday at the splash park. They layed around and had naps. Deklen is on the left born march 15th, sara is in the middle born march 25th, and james on the right born may 21st. I was happy to see sara's mom also nursed her to a weight close to deklen. I thought i was the only one with a big baby. We had a good time visiting and laying in the shade.

Ah, the habits are forming. He will lay like this on the couch watching t.v for ever. He loves the tv. I can see it already......
We had some outside time today, he looks so chubby here, but he has the finger out again.

OMG yes, drama five minutes before we left the campsite. And i should have had the damn video on, i would still be laughing. I was just taking a picture of trev on his mini bike fooling around and, he swerved to miss a huge hole in the ground and did this. So a bit of grass burn on his shoulder a scraped knee and elbow and we headed home.

Deklens first camping trip. Yes as usual he was exceptionally good. went to bed at 9 pm woke at 4:44 to eat, went back to sleep and woke at 8 am for the day. He had a lot of fun as well as fresh air. the picture below shows that his wtf scowl is just the same as his daddys. Too cute. Another face by deklen..... nothing but cuteness tho.

Yes, the dreaded habits are forming........

I thought this was so cute. todays 10 am naptime. Deklen usually sleeps in the crib or playpen so when he fell asleep on the bed today zoe had to snuggle with him. Yes, it has been awhile since i have posted as i have been busy. Just a few random pictures of deklen. Here he is falling asleep - he always needs a toy or blanket up against his face to cuddle with as he falls asleep. He's the one that grabs the toy and snuggles with it. Just a picture after a bath this week. He still loves his baths!
Here he fell asleep in the bassinet holding on to the toy. I had to snicker about this.

Here is the newest toy i have bought (used) for deklen. He is getting pretty strong, and can get bouncing a bit as his toes just barely touch the floor. In the video watch his eyebrows when he peeks over the toy, he raises one as if to say wht the heck are you doing?

Well, on friday evening, i caught deklen rolling on to his side - only twice and they were really quick. He was only on his side for about two seconds, then he would flop back on his back. So today trevor had just stepped out the door to go out and i had gone back in the livingroom to find deklen on his side. I hollered at trevor and he came running back in. He probably would have done it earlier if i had the toys beside him instead of dangling over him.

It's not the right finger but you get the message by the look on his face. Boy is he gonna be a tough guy! A quick picture of deklen and his mama. So cute.

Here deklen is all ready for fathers day. He looks so grown up in jeans and a big boy shirt. Also my peony started to bloom - Yaay! Looks pretty red to me.

Yes ,this is the new do. It turned out a bit redder than we had hoped but I still like it. It seems the darker color makes me look less pasty white. And In six weeks i'll get it done again. Fun.

Ok, today deklen was just falling asleep in my arms and he actually truly laughed. He has been giving short little giggles but not a real laugh. It was so cute. Here is a pic since most people have been giving me a hard time for not updating my blog. Yes he is chubby and is now 15.8 pounds.

YAAY! My Peony is finally blooming this is the third summer for it and it hasn't yet bloomed. I think it is either supposed to be pink or red with a yellow center. We will see. Ok here is a picture of my new cute haircut i got last friday. Alyssa was too busy to do a cut and color in the same day until mid july and i couldn't wait. SO i go next friday for the color. Yes it is friday the 13th hopefully it will not be bad luck or anything. I plan on getting it dyed darker brown with red highlights. i may change my mind between now and then, but either way i will go darker. Now is a easier time for me to do this as i am not working. Nothing bothers me more than evey other person saying WOW! What did you do to your hair ?- Blah Blah Blah. Now just family and friends i can tell to shush and deal with it - even if it turns out horrible. It won't tho as alyssa always does a fabulous job. I can't wait.

Deklen has really started to notice the dogs now. He was staring at oskar while laying and playing for almost 15 minutes.
